Educated women between 45 and 64 are most likely to use herbal medicine ,especially if they've also taken over-the-counter or prescription drugs in the last year ,the National Health Interview Survey finds. The most popular plant-based supplements with survey respondents ranged from echinacea through ginseng,ginkgo,garlic,St.John's wort,peppermint,ginger,soy,chamomile and kava.While in 1990 only 2.5 percent of American adults had used herbal remedies for their health,by 2002 nearly 20 percent of the population had turned to plant based medicine.
